There is minimal deflection in the middle of the
architrave (1/4 inch).
Cracks can be opened and infilled flush.
The South East volute of the Western cap is very loose
and can be reinforced through the opening of the loose
piece of abacus with plaster wads (hemp fiber soaked in
plaster). The remaining cracks on this and the Eastern
column cap can be pointed up.
Small strip of paneling in soffit of architrave, East of
West column cap is loose and needs to be removed and
replaced.
West pilaster, South face; pilaster cap is loose and
shifted 1.5 inches to the left, remove and replace.
Repoint cap mitre and caulk field of column mitre.
East pilaster, North side; cap does not continue around
North face properly. The cap has a wood facing for a
plaster stop. This should be caulked flush.
Pilasters should be caulked up where they meet the walls.
Walls;
Wall at stairs is heavily scared. Reskim.
Other walls are sound, cracks should be opened and
infilled flush.
Parlor 1
Ceiling;
Reinforce and skim ceiling between cornices.
Slight eff in South cornice. Brush infill and sand flush.
Open and point-up flush various cracks in cornices.
Southwest corner of cornice; evidence can be seen here
that the cornice over the architrave is not original to
the room. Paint can be seen under the mitre along the
west cornice where the southern cornice has broken off.
(The southern cornice has been installed over the western
cornice forming a new mitre).
Northwest corner of ceiling; Small area has fallen. Patch
flush.
Centerpiece has five broken leaves around center. These
need to be recast.
Centerpiece should be reinforced.
North Wall;
Arch above bay window; Approx. 3 feet of soffit has been
removed intact. This should be reinstalled and pointed-up
flush.
Broken abacus on left corbel in bay window, patch
in-situ.
Cracked plaster at bottom left of bay, open and infill
flush. Also missing plinth piece.
Cracks in wall, left and right of bay. Open and infill
flush.
